Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of music tuition by Ryan Ryder, trading as Ryan Strings ("Ryan Strings", "we", "us" or "our"). By booking or attending lessons, or by using this website to enquire about lessons, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

1. Lessons and services

Ryan Strings offers one-to-one music lessons in double bass, cello and violin. Lessons are tailored to the student and may include technique, repertoire, musicianship, exam preparation, audition support and related teaching services.

2. Bookings

  • Lessons are subject to availability and are confirmed only once agreed by Ryan Strings.
  • Bookings may be arranged by email, phone, message or through the website contact form.
  • Where the student is under 18, a parent or guardian is responsible for the booking and for accepting these terms on the student’s behalf.

3. Fees and payment

  • Lesson fees will be notified at the time of booking or renewal.
  • Payment is due in accordance with the payment terms communicated at booking, which may include payment in advance or by invoice.
  • Late payment may result in lessons being paused or cancelled until outstanding sums are settled.
  • Unless otherwise stated, all prices are quoted in pounds sterling.

4. Cancellations and rescheduling

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson, please provide as much notice as possible.
  • Where at least 24 hours’ notice is given, Ryan Strings will use reasonable efforts to offer a rescheduled lesson or transfer the booking value to another mutually agreed time.
  • Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full, except in cases of illness, emergency or at Ryan Strings’ discretion.
  • If Ryan Strings needs to cancel or reschedule a lesson, an alternative appointment or credit will be offered.

5. Attendance and punctuality

  • Please arrive on time and ready to begin the lesson.
  • Late arrival by the student may reduce the available lesson time. The lesson will usually still end at the agreed finishing time.
  • If a student does not attend a booked lesson without notice, the lesson may be treated as cancelled without notice and charged accordingly.

6. Lesson location and environment

Lessons are held in Boston, Lincolnshire at the location confirmed when booking. Students are responsible for ensuring they attend the agreed location on time and with any required instrument or materials, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed.

7. Student responsibilities

  • Students are expected to behave respectfully and to engage with the lesson in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Students should bring any relevant instrument, music, notebook or accessories needed for the lesson, unless otherwise agreed.
  • Regular practice between lessons is encouraged in order to support progress.

8. Instruments and equipment

Students are generally responsible for providing their own instrument and accessories. Ryan Strings may offer guidance on instrument hire, purchase, sizing and basic equipment, but the final choice and ongoing care of instruments remain the student’s or parent’s responsibility.

9. Health, safety and safeguarding

  • Students and parents must disclose any relevant medical, learning or access information that may affect lesson delivery or safety.
  • Where lessons involve children, a parent or guardian remains responsible for the child except during the agreed lesson period and subject to any arrangements confirmed in writing.
  • Ryan Strings reserves the right to end a lesson or refuse further tuition where behaviour is unsafe, abusive, inappropriate or disruptive.

10. Progress and outcomes

Ryan Strings will provide professional tuition with reasonable skill and care. However, musical progress depends on many factors including attendance, home practice, motivation, health, instrument quality and prior experience. No guarantee is given as to any specific musical result, exam outcome or audition result.

11. Communications

By booking lessons or making an enquiry, you agree that Ryan Strings may contact you about lesson scheduling, administration, invoices and related service matters using the contact details you provide.

12. Website use

  • The content on this website is provided for general information only.
  • While care is taken to keep information accurate and up to date, Ryan Strings does not guarantee that all website content is complete, current or error-free.
  • You must not misuse this website, attempt unauthorised access, or use the site in a way that may damage or disrupt it.

13. Intellectual property

All website content, branding, design, text and imagery are owned by or licensed to Ryan Strings unless otherwise stated. You may view the site for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not reproduce, distribute or adapt website content without prior written permission.

14. Liability

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, Ryan Strings’ total liability arising out of or in connection with lessons or website use shall be limited to the amount paid by you for the relevant lesson or service giving rise to the claim.

15. Data protection

Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms and Conditions.

16. Changes to these terms

Ryan Strings may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The latest version will be published on this website and will apply to new bookings immediately and to ongoing arrangements from the date notified.

17. Governing law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising in connection with them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless applicable consumer law provides otherwise.
